DT Swiss EXP Ratchet Upgrade

This upgrade kit is designed specifically for newer DT Swiss hubs utilizing the single-spring Ratchet EXP system. Upgrading to a 54-tooth ratchet reduces your engagement delay to 6.6°, improving pedal response on technical climbs and power delivery out of tight corners.

Hub Compatibility:

• DT Swiss 240 EXP (Current generation EXP models)

• DT Swiss 180 EXP (Current generation EXP models)

• Factory wheelsets built with newer DT 240/180 EXP hubs

How to Identify Your System:
To verify your hub type, pull your freehub body straight off the axle[2]. If your hub uses the Ratchet EXP system, you will find:

1. Only one loose, moving star ratchet.

2. A single cylindrical spring that sits inside the freehub body.

3. The opposing drive ratchet is a threaded ring permanently installed directly into the hub shell itself.

4. The hub shell will typically have "Ratchet EXP" laser-etched onto its body.

• (1) Threaded EXP Inboard Drive Ring (36-Tooth or 54-Tooth)

• (1) Outboard Moving EXP Star Ratchet (36-Tooth or 54-Tooth)

• (1) Cylindrical Spring

• (1) Shim / Washer

• (1) Container of DT Swiss Special Grease

Installation Tool Requirements:
To install this upgrade kit, a proprietary DT Swiss EXP drive ring removal tool is required to unthread the stock inboard drive ring from the hub shell and thread in the new one. A bearing press tool may also be required, as the drive-side hub shell bearing sits directly behind this drive ring and must be pressed back into place during assembly.

Note: This kit is not compatible with classic Star Ratchet, Ratchet LN, or Ratchet DEG hubs.
