Reserve 36|39 Tubular

The LoamLabs Expert Take

For the competitive racer, the Reserve 36|39 Tubular is a pro-level tool. Tubular rims allow for remarkably low tire pressures without the risk of pinch flats, providing a supple ride feel and superior traction that is unmatched by standard tubeless setups. This makes them a top choice for elite cyclocross, criteriums, and road races where cornering grip and performance are paramount.

It is no surprise that Grand Tours are won in the high mountains. That is exactly where the fittest, fastest climbers demand the absolute lightest bike possible to create race-winning time gaps. Weighing in at an incredibly light 1,166 grams, the Reserve 36|39 carbon tubular wheelset was the exact weapon of choice for Jonas Vingegaard during his victorious 2023 Tour de France campaign.

Designed specifically for elite cyclocross (CX) and pure climbing stages, this ultra-lightweight wheelset utilizes a mixed-depth profile (36mm front, 39mm rear) to provide the perfect balance of featherweight acceleration, aerodynamic efficiency, and crosswind stability.

Important Compatibility Note: The Reserve 36|39 is a dedicated Tubular wheelset. This requires tubular-specific tires that are manually glued to the rim bed during the installation process. Standard tubeless (TLR) or tube-style clincher tires are NOT compatible with this wheelset.

Key Features

Stable and Fast: The mixed-profile front and rear setup of the 36|39 provides maximum stability, the lowest possible rotational weight, and highly optimized aerodynamics. The shallower front rim reduces steering torque in crosswinds, ensuring predictable handling on fast, winding mountain descents.

Turbulent Aero Technology: Just like Reserve's deepest aero wheels, the 36|39 was engineered utilizing Turbulent Aero technology. Real-world wind data was mapped and replicated in the wind tunnel to design a climbing wheelset that is remarkably fast and stable for real riders in unpredictable outdoor conditions.

Ready for Racing: The 36|39 is a no-compromise race day tool designed specifically for cyclocross and high-altitude climbing. Featuring zero rider weight limits and an industry-leading lifetime warranty, it's built to withstand the rigors of professional competition.
